Attaining Nirvana in Bali Seminyak Villa

Author: Robin Bali

Geography was my favourite subject in school as I had this passion towards travelling the world and learn about various cultures, languages, meet people across cultures, their lifestyles, visit new places now & then and savour the beauty of this world, which God created for us.

Saint Augustine rightly said, 'The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page'. Going by this quote, I always make it a point I keep travelling and explore more of this book as you know, no matter how much we read, this book will remain never-ending. This time my chapter started with taking a rental villa in Bali, a place, I\'ve always wanted to visit since I studied about Indonesia, back in my school days.

I always heard about the mesmerising beaches and sunsets and the peaceful surroundings of Bali and often wondered, what an ideal place to attain spiritual enlightenment. You would think why am I, all of a sudden, talking about spirituality? You see, in my course of travelling the world, I was drawn towards spirituality and especially towards Buddhism. Though I didn\'t opt Buddhism, I believe in what Gautama Buddha said and believe in, in other words, I can easily relate to Buddhism.

Coming back to my Bali Seminyak Villa, where I\'m sitting, writing this article, how can we relate Buddhism to Bali? Going by archaeological, epigraphic and literary evidence, I\'ve read that Buddhism existed in Bali, along-side Hinduism for about seven hundred years. You see, a Balinese work of an uncertain date called the Nagarakrtagama by a Buddhist monk lists all the Buddhist temples in Bali, which are a total of twenty six. As per the last census in 1989, there were 13,274 Buddhists in Bali, nearly all of them either ethnic Chinese or people from other parts of Indonesia.

I shall not go in detail on the existence of Buddhism in Bali as my plain motive, as a traveller is to absorb Bali and its beauty & the feeling of bliss in my mind, body & soul. So, I decided to meditate in my rental villa in Bali. The first day I explored the Nyaman Villas, where I was staying with my group and was stunned by the beauty & the establishment of the villas. I did not have to search much to find my spot where I could meditate peacefully and most importantly, without getting disturbed. I meditated for hours in the lush green gardens in the villa and was in such state of harmony, which I never experienced my entire life.

This Bali Seminyak Villa gave me so much to celebrate about and my happiness knew no bounds. I then, tried out meditating on the beaches and experienced life as never before. My mind, body & soul were in absolute harmony and I wondered maybe, this this is what Nirvana was. All you meditation lovers out there, if you wish to experience utter bliss, go to Bali and the best option to relish your holiday there is a rental villa in Bali. Happy Meditation!
